Fanny Lou (Spillers) Ash
Fanny Lou went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2022 at the age of 87. Born January 8, 1935, Upper Burrell, Westmoreland County, PA to parents Clarence Hewell and Dorothy Jean (Raught) Spillers. Loving wife of James Leroy Ash, Survived by her four children: Dana Ash of Pittsburgh, PA ; James L. Ash Jr (Diane) of Whitefield NH; Denise Ash of Egg Harbor Twp, NJ; Charles Edwards Ash (Diane) of Lakeville, MA; beloved granddaughters Noelle Pearl and Lyndsey Joy; two brothers, Jared "Jay" (Joyce) Spillers, and Carlton "Jack" (Marcy) Spillers; and many nieces and nephews.
GAW, the name given by her grandchildren, was a resident of Egg Harbor Township for 40 years. She was a Graduate of Citizens General Nursing School, New Kensington PA (1955) and was a Registered Nurse. Her greatest joy was found in raising her four children and then being a grandmother. She enjoyed her gardens, gathering with friends, and most of all, spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James L. Ash, Sr.; five brothers: James Spillers of Columbus, OH; Richard "Lee" Spillers, Turtle Creek PA; Donald "Jiggs" Spillers, Murrysville PA; Norman Wade Spillers, Hayden ID; Clarence H "Buddy" Spillers; and two sisters: Jean Branthoover, Greensburg PA, and Carol McLaughlin, Lower Burrell PA.
A celebration of her life will be held 10 am on Saturday, October 8 at the Linwood Community Church, 1838 Shore Road, Linwood NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name be made to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission.
