Eberhard, Daphne L. – 93, of Somers Point, passed away peacefully at home on August 16th, 2022 surrounded by loving family. Daphne was born on May 6, 1929 in London, England to Lillian and William Sparrow. She became an X-ray tech at the age of 17, and enjoyed a career that spanned over 50 years. She worked in four countries, caring for patients in three different languages. Daphne took great pride in her work, and it gave her immense pleasure to help others. On April 1st, 1961, she married Arthur Eberhard. They raised one daughter, Shelmadine Veehoff. Daphne had a passion for poetry. She loved capturing life's moments, both large and small, in verse. Her poetry readings were admired by family, friends, and the local community. She also had a love of music, nature, animals and travel. She was known for her kindness, cheeky sense of humor, and a charming British accent that never left her, despite living in the US for decades. Daphne was preceded in death by her mother and father; her brother Dennis; and her sisters Pog and Diana. She is survived by her husband, Arthur; daughter Shelmadine Veehoff (Joseph); grandson Vladislav; sister Deirdre Tomlinson (Tony); and a number of cherished nieces and nephews. A private memorial will be held at a future date. Donations may be made to Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Anatomical Association or the ASPCA.
