Obituary of Arthur Ford

On Wednesday, June 1, 2022 Arthur T. Ford III, Esquire passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side at the age of 83. Art was born at Shore Memorial Hospital (Shore Medical Center) and was a lifelong resident of Somers Point, NJ. He was a graduate of Ocean City High School, class of 1956. Art joined the Ocean City Beach Patrol at age 16 and continued to work on the beach throughout high school and college. Upon high school graduation, he served in United States Air Force for 4 years. After which, he attended and played football for Wesley College. He then studied at American University where he earned his undergraduate and law degrees. He passed the NJ bar in 1968. Art was a founding partner of Ford, Flower, Hasbrouck and Loefflad and had been practicing law up until his passing. Art was a dedicated community servant with many affiliations, most proudly and prominently as a 48-year member of the Board of Trustees at Shore Medical Center, where he held every office within the board over his tenure. In 2014, he received the distinguished honor of having the Board Room at the hospital dedicated to him for outstanding service. Art grew up an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and boating with a particular passion for fishing. He loved living on the water in Somers Point as well as making winter fishing trips to Florida. Later in life, Art truly enjoyed getting his grandchildren out on the water teaching them to fish, crab and on occasion go tubing on the bay. He is survived by Deborah C. Murphy, his loving life companion of over 25 years, as well as his three children, Arthur T. Ford IV (Jennifer Peppe), Richard W. Ford (Stacy Ford) and Susannah L. Cable (Scott Cable), his sister Barbara Aspenberg, his six grandchildren Arthur T. Ford V, Christopher R. Ford (Katrina Ford), Cole P. Ford, Kate A. Ford, Cameron S. Cable, and Maximus S. Cable, and one great-grandson, Ryan Strickland. Art's quick wit and dry sense of humor will be greatly missed by family and friends. We ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his memory to Shore Medical Center. Private services will be held. "The important parts of Art's life can be summed up in three words: integrity, loyalty and decency." – Willis Flower
