Obituary of Fred W. Dodd

Fred Dodd, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the age of 78.  Born and raised in Atlantic City NJ, Fred graduated from Atlantic City High School and attended Stetson University.  Fred was a well-known and greatly loved self-made businessman, who as a young man owned Taber’s Toyland and Teepee Town in Atlantic City.  Fred later went on to purchase The HUB, men’s clothing store with locations in Pleasantville, Somers Point, and Mays Landing.

Fred proudly served as a board member for Career Opportunity Development, Inc. (CODI) for the past fifteen years.  He also belonged to the Egg Harbor Township Elks, Absecon Island Power Squadron, attended Central United Methodist Church, and was an active member of the Atlantic City High School Reunion Committee.  

Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Carol (Britton), his brothers Larry, Jim (Linda), Tom, and Bobbie (Evie).  Fred leaves behind seven children including Davis Britton, Julie (Britton) Gonzalez (Raul), Fred Dodd VI, (Jeannie), Peter Britton, Terri McAndrew, Karen (Britton) Jones (Charles), and Toni Dodd (Jon).  Fred was most proud of his extended family including 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing and visitation on Wednesday, May 23rd , 6 – 8 pm and Thursday 9:30 – 10:30 am at Middleton-Stroble & Zale Funeral Home, 304 Shore Road, Somers Point, NJ 08244.  PH (609) 927-3844. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home following the viewing on Thursday, May 24th at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at Zion Methodist Cemetery in EHT, NJ.
