Beverly Dawne Dean, 85, of Somers Point, passed peacefully on May 1st, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Beverly was born on May 10th, 1936 in Carlisle, PA to Charles and Helen Mendler. Nicknamed "Bootie" as a child for her fiery personality, she spent her early days playfully enjoying the company of her older and beloved sister, Gloria. As a young adult, Beverly was valedictorian of Carlisle High School and was honored as May Queen of her senior class. Beverly continued her education at Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing where she received her Bachelor of Science in nursing. In 1963, Beverly married the love of her life, Ed, the brother of Gloria's husband (Jim). Throughout the decades, Beverly worked at several hospitals and spent many years caring for the elderly at Ocean Point nursing home in Somers Point. While her care and compassion for her patients were unrivaled, her legacy and true passion were her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandson. Beverly had an uncanny way of supporting each child's individuality, whether by helping with homework or cheering on the sidelines. Beverly instilled in all of her children the importance of love and compassion. Beverly loved to travel with her husband, play cards and games, play slots at the casino, and prepare delicious home cooked meals. She spent many joyful days with her children and grandchildren at the beach and boardwalk. She will forever be remembered as a doting grandmother, a supportive wife, and a loving and devoted mother. Beverly is survived by her children, Kathy (Steve), Ed, Gloria, Barb, and Lee, and her grandchildren, Steven (Kris), Jenn (Brett), Christopher, Ryan, Rachel, and John, and her great grandson, Oliver. She also is survived by her four-legged companions, Sophie, Sasha, and, Wookiee.
