In the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday, July 20, 2021, Ambrose Charles O'Donnell III, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, passed away at the age of 56. After a year and a half struggle with cancer, he passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children. Born on September 13, 1964 in Atlantic City, NJ to Ambrose and Judi (Foster) O'Donnell, Jr., Ambrose was raised in Linwood and attended Mainland Regional High School, followed by Pilgrim Academy. He practiced mechanical and electrical engineering drafting and design for more than 30 years, including tenures in his father's own firm and his father's surviving business partner's firm. On June 18, 1988, Ambrose married Barbara Lynn Kern. Together, they raised three daughters and a son. A dedicated, loving, and doting father whose life revolved around family, he grew up with a deep and meaningful connection to Summit Hill, PA, the hometown of his paternal grandmother and grandfather and still home to extended family. Considering this lovely town his second home, he passed on this connection to his children through frequent visits. A big lover of sports, he both coached and was president of the Linwood Little League, enjoyed collecting sports cards, and participated in various sports fantasy leagues. Later in life he took up pool, playing on various leagues out of AC Billiards in EHT, NJ as well as on Logan's Heroes out of Woodbriar Bar in Berlin, NJ. With AC Billiards he and his league competed in the national championship tournament. For almost fifty years, he was an integral, enthusiastic, and faithful attendee of the family's traditional annual Man-cation, a summer camping trip organized and attended by the male family members. Ambrose was preceded in death by his father, Ambrose Charles O'Donnell, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of EHT, NJ; his daughters Kourtnee L. Sullivan (Michael) of Clayton, NJ, Ashlee C. (Graham) of Palmyra, NJ, and Keerstin M. of EHT, NJ; and his son Ambrose IV of EHT, NJ. He is also survived by his mother, Judi, of Mays Landing, NJ; his brothers Kevin F. (Aleida) of Los Angeles, CA, and Richard E. (Cathryn L.) of Brick, NJ; his sister Debra D. Gallagher (Charles W.) of Atlanta, GA; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass to be held on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 10:15am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 606 Shore Road, Somers Point, NJ, 08244 with outdoor receiving line to follow.
