It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Simmons, of Ocean City, announce his sudden passing on December 25, 2020, at the age of 66 years old in Somers Point. At the time of his passing, he was doing what he loved most, spending time with family and watching football. Gary was born in Philadelphia, PA, on March 22, 1954. He was the third child of James and Beverly Simmons. He moved to Somers Point, NJ as a boy and attended Mainland Regional High School. Gary worked hard his entire life in various service industry jobs, most recently at the Promenade Food Court on the Ocean City Board Walk. He enjoyed meeting new people and seeing the smile of those he came in contact with. He was a generous man that went above and beyond for those he loved and cared about. Despite moving away from Philadelphia as a boy, he never stopped rooting for his Philly teams. Gary was a diehard Eagles fan, devoted Flyers fan, and loyal Sixers and Phillies fan. He was preceded in death by parents, James and Beverly Simmons, sister Karen and brother James "Jimmy" Simmons all of Somers Point. He will be lovingly missed by his son Tony (Melisa) of Lancaster, Ca., whom he shared with Eleanor Simmons of Mays Landing; his grandchildren, Shyanne (Richard) Madrid of Burbank, Ca., Anthony of Lancaster, Ca. and Brayden of Lancaster, Ca.; his great-granddaughter, Lilyana of Burbank, Ca.; his niece and nephew, whom he raised like his own, Jammie Simmons of Mays Landing and James "Jay" (Marian) of Somers Point; great-nieces and nephew: Tiffany, Gabriella and Michael Simmons, all of Somers Point; siblings: Cindy (Vince) Vannoni of EHT, Scot (Tina) Simmons, Chris Simmons and Michael Simmons all of Somers Point. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and restrictions, a memorial service and celebration of Gary's life will be held at a later date.
