Obituary of Thomas Van Langen

VAN LANGEN, THOMAS, - 57, of Egg Harbor Twp, Thomas John "T.J." Van Langen, born September 15, 1959, passed away peacefully at home with his devoted wife Beth by his side. T.J. was a resident of Egg Harbor Township and grew up in Linwood, NJ. He also lived in Monterey, CA, Melbourne, FL, and Wilmington, NC. He was a graduate of Mainland Regional High School and UNC, Wilmington. He completed post graduate work in California and New Jersey.


Despite his devastating accident at the age of 16, T.J. never let his wheelchair become an obstacle. He was a scuba diver, snow skier, snorkeler, avid nature photographer, and enthusiastic traveler, always with a big smile on his face. He was a talented database administrator with a long career at the FAA Tech Center and with other computer companies. His zest for life taught us lessons about bravery and optimism.

T.J. was pre-deceased by his parents, Ann and Frank. He is survived by his loving wife Beth, adoring dogs, Cedar and Willow, his children, Jamie Bird, Kevin Bird (Nicole), and Lori-Beth Silver (Jeff). He is missed by his wonderful grandchildren, Xander and Benji Cordery, Kevin Bird, and Julian Silver. T.J. is sadly missed by his sister Barbara Law (Roy), and the Van Langen brothers, Frank (Brenda), Dennis, Paul, Kenneth (Ellen) and Franklin Bak (Pat). T.J. was loved and admired by his many nieces, nephews, and friends who will never forget his parties, his sense of humor, and his ability to always see the best in everyone.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Visitation on Thurs. from 11:00am -12:30 pm from MIDDLETON - STROBLE & ZALE FUNERAL HOME 304 Shore Road Somers Point, NJ PH-609-927-3844. Memorial Service 12:30 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial of Ashes will follow at Seaside Cemetery.
