Obituary of James Donahue
James F. Donahue - 69 of Ocean City passed away May 26, 2017 with his family by his side. Born and raised in Philadelphia he graduated from Philadelphia Community College with an associate degree in applied science, LaSalle College with a bachelor's degree in psychology and Temple University with a master's degree in education (counseling psychology).
Jim was the executive director for the mental health center known as Citizen's Acting Together Can Help, Inc. (C.A.T.C.H) located in Philadelphia for more than 30 years. He worked with chronically mentally ill and homeless. Before retiring Jim developed a program; Patriot House for homeless veterans providing them newly renovated apartments and all social services necessary to be successful.
Jim was an active member of St. Joe's Church, he was most recently the commander of AMVETS Post 911 in Somers Point which he co-founded, a member and former commander of the VFW of Somers Point, an active member of the Legion, Elks, Knights of Columbus, United States Submarine Veterans, Inc., Vietnam Veterans of America, Korean War Veterans Association and a member of the Pine Hollow Hunting Club. Jim served honorably in the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force and was awarded the Air Force commendation medal.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Donahue (Robson), daughter Shannon and son-in-law (Brent) Ebinger, 2 brothers Tom and John and a sister Peg (Haskins) along with several nieces, a nephew and cousins.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday June 3rd from 9:30-1045AM at St Josephs RC Church 606 Shore Rd Somers Point NJ. Funeral Mass 11AM. Burial will follow Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery.
