It is with great sadness that the family of Sam Clerico announces his passing on February 18, 2018 in the Cardiac Care Unit of AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center surrounded by family. Sam was a graduate of Mainland Regional High School in Linwood and attended Atlantic Cape Community College in pursuit of his degree in Criminal Justice. Sam spent 26 years in law enforcement starting at the Atlantic County Jail and retiring as a Sergeant with the Somers Point Police Department. Sam was an avid race fan and had a strong passion for his Harley Davidson as well as his classic Monte Carlo SS. Sam loved spending his free time with his friends on rides or at car shows. As Sam's passion for motorcycles and cars was strong, his love for his family and friends was even stronger.
Sam is predeceased by his mother Carol Mackie (nee Marley) and his father Anthony Clerico, his maternal grandparents Eleanora and Edward Marley, and his paternal grandparents Helen and Samuel Clerico. Sam is survived by his brothers Anthony Clerico and his wife Patty, and Greggory Clerico, as well as his sister Carol Gaynor and her husband Bill. The lights of his life his nephews Tony and Michael Clerico and his nieces Heather Clerico and Gabriella Gaynor. Stepfather Scott Mackie and his stepsiblings J.T. Mackie, Roxanne Saldivar, and Brett Mackie. His Uncle and Aunt Tom and Barbara Iarosis as well as all the Iarosis cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Thursday evening 6-9pm at MIDDLETON-STROBLE & ZALE FUNERAL HOME, 304 Shore Road, Somers Point. PH (609) 927-3844. The family asks in order to honor Sam's memory that you bring out your motorcycles, and classic cars. Also, in true Sam style he would rather you wear your riding gear or a pair of jeans. Funeral mass will be held on Friday 10am at St. Joseph's Church, 606 Shore Road, Somers Point. No visitation prior to Mass and interment will be private.
