Margaret "Peg" Houde passed away peacefully at her farm on November 13, 2017, after living a robust 91 years.
She shared most of her adventures with "Big Norm," her hubby and soulmate for nearly six decades. Peg had her own sassy style that left no one wondering where she stood. She didn't care much about what people thought of her. She raised five children, helped build a successful business, served as a nurse, made great white clam sauce, and was a gifted artist. In recent years, Peg loved her girlfriend lunches with Bernice and Janet. And she never passed up an opportunity for a frozen yogurt or ice cream.
She was born June 2, 1926 in Cumberland, RI, one of four children. She was a big giver to her favorite cause – her family. She helped grow St. Joseph's Church and Regional School. She was especially proud of cofounding Delta Line Construction Company.
Peg was preceded in death by her husband, Norm, and her son, Normand Jay. She is survived by her four children and their spouses – Danny & Judi, Susan & Gillian, Jeffrey & Nanette, Aimee & Kevin, and eight grandkids – Audra, Chris, Adam, Nick, Samantha, Olivia, Sandy, and George, and her 50% squirrel hound Lucky.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, December 19th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Somers Point, NJ. Visitation will begin at 11am followed by a Memorial Mass at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, Peg's family asks that you make a donation to the charity of your choice or help someone in need.
